The satellite speakers interlock to fit neatly underneath monitors. View larger. | Innovative Design Keeps Your Desk Looking Sharp The Altec Lansing VS2521 features a unique design that maximizes your desk space while maintaining a high-quality sound. With its high-tech metal grilles, the VS2521 not only looks great but allows you to position the speakers either vertically or horizontally. You also can interlock the two speakers horizontally and place them beneath your monitor--a great space-saving feature. Smart design extras include a convenient front-panel headphone jack for private listening so you don't wake up the neighbors, and a front-panel input jack that lets you easily plug in your MP3 player without disconnecting the speaker system from your computer, or reaching blindly around the back of the system, searching for the right plug. And thanks to color-coded cables, you'll be up and listening in seconds. Great, High-Quality Sound The two satellite speakers feature custom-engineered 2-1/2-inch full-range drivers in a unique cabinet with asymmetrical baffling that reduces standing waves. What this means is great, clean sound with less distortion. The satellites have a frequency range from 180 Hz to 20 kHz, and are powered at 7 Watts per channel. Each satellite speaker measures 4.3 x 4.1 x 8.7 inches (W x D x H). The powered subwoofer features a large 5-1/4-inch long throw driver that'll have you thumping along to your favorite music and movies. The bass is strong and tight, and goes all the way down to 30 Hz with a power of 14 Watts into 8 ohms. The subwoofer measures 9.4 x 8.3 x 8.3 inches (W x D x H). Together, the system has a frequency response from 30 Hz to 20 kHz, meaning you won't miss a single note. The Altec Lansing VS2521 is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box Two satellite speakers, one subwoofer, color-coded cables, quick connect instructions.
With an elegant high-tech look, the VS2521 will have your desk looking great. |

Excellent Computer Speaker October 9, 2008 Jeremy A. Santos 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
Altec Lansing makes excellent computer speakers. The VS2521 2.1 computer speakers with powered subwoofer delivered what I need in my PC speaker. Excellent bass sound, very solid, excellent treble and tweeter sounds that compliment the subwoofer's very solid bass sound. It is outstanding. I am very satisfied with my VS2521 2.1 computer speakers with powered subwoofer. I would definitely recommend this speaker to my friends.
terrific sound March 13, 2009 Lulu Moretti (Wine Country) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
We wanted speakers to work off our family room's laptop so we could listen to Pandora.com in the public end of the house. The space to fill is large and includes the kitchen and dining room - we didn't want just LOUD, we wanted good sound, good fidelity. When we hooked the unit up and turned it on we totally could not believe our ears! For about 20% of what we spent for our big stereo speakers alone, we got terrific sound. We're primarily jazz listeners, but enjoy other genres as well. Instrumentals? Voice? Perfect in every way. At Christmas, the English choral music was heavenly. (It's plenty loud - we've never turned it up to 11.)
volume galore August 30, 2008 dareing (Seattle, WA USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
lots of volume, excellent controls and easy set up. Best subwoofer I have had. Highly recommend this one.
Experience great sound without breaking the bank. February 20, 2009 Lindstrom Stone 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I went through (and returned) three other speaker sets before I found these. Wish I had gone with this system from the start!
I have the speakers connected to a Creative Audigy 2 card (not the latest and greatest, but it holds up well) and the overall sound quality is excellent. High and mids come in crystal clear, with lows handled nicely by the sub woofer.
Vocals come through clean, and do not sound small or relegated to the background, as I've experienced on other speaker systems in and around this price range. Gaming, music, and moves all provide pleasent listening experiences. Having volume, bass, and treble controls all in one place on the right speaker is a smart design choice.
The only nitpick I have is that the main connector cord going from the right speaker to the sub is probably a foot shorter than it should be (for my set up anyway).
In short, if you've been searching all over for great sounding speakers that won't make a big hole in your wallet--get these!
Other thoughts:
Compared with the louder but hollow sounding Logitech Z-2300, this sytem is a real treat.
Great Speakers for the price March 5, 2009 John L. Woodrum (Lake Havasu City, AZ USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
These Altec Lansing VS2521 2.1 speakers have a great sound and are loud enough to please most anyone using a computer for general use. I replaced the old powered speakers with the Altec Lansing VS2521 and was very pleased with what I heard, they are a 100% improvement over my old speakers. The only downside that I have is the AC power button is in the rear of the Powered Subwoofer which I usually power down when I'm through for the day, other than that I still give these speakers five stars for their performance. I have the Powered Subwoofer sitting next to my computer screen and the two smaller speakers on a shelf above, so it's no big deal to power them down. I ran the power cord from the two speakers down behind the wall, so none of the wires show when looking at my desk. I would recommend these speakers to anyone as they have great sound and enough volume for most anyone.
