I have been searching for a good 2:2 system because my 5:1 surround sound just took up to much space, I was very straight forward on what i wanted in sound clarity, a high dB capability in a small foot print, and style. This device fit everyone of those credentials, and the fact its made by JBL makes it all the better. I have trusted this company for years for their sound performance and they have yet to let me down.
If your looking for a good 2:2 and a descent price this is it.

I have looked at tons of speakers, from the sublime to the tinny, and bought JBL Duet III's. They are compatible with my MAC Mini, seem to have excellent range, acceptable bass response, and very good treble and mid-range. I listen to everything from online news to opera CDs, and the Duet III's are excellent (especially for $100). Are They audiophile level... no; But they are truly excellent speakers,nice clean design, space conserving and unobtrusive, and connecting them up was so easy I didn't need the simple diagram included with them. I may buy a second set for my wife's IMAC.

Easy connection, takes up little space, good complement to laptop, excellent sound. May not have the bass that some would wish, but it's adequate. Sound of an orchestra firing up is great. Highly recommend.
JBL Duet III: Speakers that look and sound good. April 29, 2010

The Duet IIIs look elegant. They also look as though they might be top-heavy and tend to capsize but they do not. Their bases are big enough to keep them standing. The sound the Duets produce has a nice balance between clarity and richness. Both music and spoken voice are heard clearly with reasonable richness and without the booming false bass that spoils the sound of many cheap speakers. These speakers obviously cannot produce the high volume of larger audiophile speakers that cost 20 times as much but, for use with a computer they are close to ideal. Nice work, JBL.

This set is very nice, both from an aesthetics and audio point of view.
Compact yet clear in the treble and deep in the mediums, this set really fits the bill for my desktop.
If you are going to listen more than just casually, I would advise to look elsewhere, but for the day-in-day-out use, it is the best compact 2.0 I have listened to as of yet.
It doesn't squeel or rattle, quality assembly ensures they are solid and sound flawless.
They allow quality listening to my favorite music while I work without being tiring over time.
That's all I have to say.
