Clean and Clear Sounds Plus Deep Bass at a Reasonable Price! September 22, 2009 Edward Ho (CA, USA) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This Logitech Z313 is referred as a 2.1 speaker system (2 satellite speakers plus 1 sub-woofer). If you want to hear deep bass in your music, a sub-woofer is a must, and it should be placed on the floor for best results. Compared to Logitech's Z520 2.0 (only 2 speakers, no sub-woofer) speaker system, which I recently also tested, it is quite apparent that Z313 has much deeper bass, although the Z313 system costs less than half the price of the Z520. If you listen to music at relatively low to normal sound volume, I would recommend the Z313. At higher volumes, the satellite speakers will not be able to crank out sound loud enough, and most of what you will hear are thumps from the sub-woofer. The Z520 is capable of much louder music without distortion; perhaps that's why it costs a lot more than the Z313.
Winner winner - Logitech speaker system January 21, 2010 A. J. Gnoza (Pensacola Florida area) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I went to several stores to purchase a set of desk speakers for my 24" iMac. I probably listened to over 20+ speaker systems from $19 to $199. The Logitech Z313 for the money is the best set that I listened to ( $44 on Amazon - no tax - FREE shipping ). I am not a fanatic when it comes to audio products, I judge on what sounds best to me for the money spent. I looked at Bose #3 and #2 ( there is a Bose outlet store 15 miles away ) and the Z313's really did sound better. The compact sub-woofer fits into tight spaces ( in my case between the iMac and a secondary 24" Dell monitor ) and delivers a deep bass in a very small space.
Excellent Sounding & Looking Speakers! October 15, 2009 FLYingG0D (GLENDALE, AZ USA) These speakers provide great sound with a minimalistic system. 2 speakers + 1 sub woofer. For being a clean and small setup that can easily be installed at a desk without adding much clutter, this is a great choice for some really nice sound!
The left and right speakers are really nice speakers. They provide a good range of sound that does indeed seem to "fill the room". I do not get the feeling that I have sound coming from two small pin-point locations. Definitely a better experience without having to try and install satellite speakers behind me.
Most of the depth in the sound comes from the sub woofer. It delivers a good, strong bass. At times, it seems a bit too strong for what I would expect, but I have it placed on the other side of my monitor instead of behind a desk or other farther location. I believe this is throwing off the balance. It might have been nice to have a bass level control on the unit itself to better balance them depending on placement since the whole system will only be configurable by your OS as stereo speakers. It's compact size is also very handy. I like how it is taller, and slender. It tucks away nicely.
Wiring was very easy to set up. You have a stereo speaker cable that plugs into your computer and goes to the wired control (6 ft). The control has a power on/off and volume control, plus your headphone jack on it. From the control unit, you have a cable connected to the back of the sub woofer (6 ft). The cables on the control and sub woofer are fixed, and can not be disconnected. The sub woofer has a stereo audio jack as well, and a power chord (5 ft, polarized, not grounded). The left/right speaker wires consist of a stereo 3.5 mm plug with 2 heavy speaker wires coming from it. The first 8 inches are joined together, then it splits into separate wires (6 ft, if you count the first 8 inches). Of course, I rounded most of these measurements up by an inch or 2 to complete the full feet.
I like the left/right speakers. In this setup, one could use an alternate set of speakers on it if desired. I would not recommend it though. The headphone connector on the controller is very handy. One of the things I really like is the fact that when I connect my headphones to the system, it is not overly loud. It does indeed seem louder, but not on the level I am used to when switching between other speakers and my headphones.
The sound is excellent, and if you are looking for a good set of speakers, but do not want to go with a 5.1 or other larger surround sound system, this is a very good 2.1 stereo system. They look great with their matte black finish, and silver accents.
The Price Is Right October 27, 2009 CyberLouis (ALEXANDRIA, VA USA) I was looking for a pair of speakers for the computer in my room--and I didn't want to spend a lot. I heard this at a store--they were next to a Bose Demo, Klipsch Demo and several others. I fell in love with these right away. Ironically, my big concern was the price--it was so low that I felt these had to be bad speakers. Why else would they be so reasonably price? When they arrived at home, I thought they wouldn't sound as good. Actually, they sound perfect. Whether I am listening to Heartbreak On Vinyl or The Beatles Uke or Taking Chances, this works for me. Of course, it is not perfect, but for this price, I don't expect recording studio quality.
Great sound! December 25, 2009 J. McCargar (California) I got these as a Christmas present to replace a 2 speaker GE set that were not externally powered. I LOVE them! These sound great with al the music I've listened to on them. Not 'boomy' when turned up, I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a great compact system for their computer.
