This highly sought-after next generation of the insanely popular X-MiniTM Max Speaker features many reinvigorated features. From the moment you look at this player you know it is something special. With improvements in all areas the X-Mini Max II retains and expands upon the hallmark of "Minimum size. Maximum sound". Defying the conventional notion that size does matter the X-miniTM Max II is a moveable feast of sounds. With its brand new sleek matte design incorporating two separate speakers in a clever pop together magnetic pod the X Mini Max 2 is also available in three new colours. So no matter what your style when you pull these speakers out you'll always match! Sound Developed in Singapore the X-MiniTM Max II is expertly designed to be ultraportable and precisely engineered to deliver a superior sound. These stylish speakers which can also be used individually pop open to reveal the patented accordion-like Bass Xpansion SystemTM (BXSTM) which successfully mimics the resonance of a sub woofer. Its new 40 mm driver expanded BXSTM extended playback time and modular "Buddy-Jack" design enables it to effectively generate high-quality beautifully dynamic sound - be it the rich timbres of a soprano or the pulsating electronic beats of the latest dance track. Battery This is all of no use if you're tied to the mains or constantly buying new batteries. When you have the X Mini Max II this is no concern! With a short 2 hour charge time and a whopping 12 hours playback on a single charge by now you'll see that this really is the ultimate portable sound solution! "Buddy Jack?" What's that? It's a simple way of connecting multiple units together and multiplying the sound! Say you feel like a party

5 out of 5 stars MUCH BETTER THAN IHOME SPEAKERS   January 23, 2010

Since I cannot post the link here, look up the X-Mini Max II review on CNET, a website that reviews all things involving technology. Compared to the iHome iHM77 review, the X-Mini Max II's have been said to provide a much better sound quality and even some bass, although not very much. These speakers do deliver on sound quality and are amazing, very loud, and do offer some low end sounds. I HIGHLY recommend you get these speakers, all of the reviews point out the X-Mini Max II's are much better than the iHome iHM77 since the iHome iHM77's have NO bass whatsoever and sound somewhat tinny and even distorted at higher volumes. Now as for the iHome iHM79's, the newest version of the iHome ultraportable speakers, I am not sure as to how the sound quality compares with the X-Mini Max II but from the reviews I have seen, the sound quality of the iHM79's are better than the iHM77's but there is still no bass and the size of the iHM79's (which can be bought at the Apple website for $50) is increased dramatically (it also looks uglier). I HIGHLY recommend these speakers they are absolutely amazing. If you don't believe me, look up the reviews for this product.

5 out of 5 stars Believe it - best speakers I own   March 15, 2010

I saw the C-Net review, and yup, these live up to it. I use these with my little tiny re-furbed 8gb fuze. The sound is broad, deep and very full. Lots of bass, treble and mid-tones. The sound fills the room. If you have concrete walls it will rock your space from end to end. Panel covered walls, about 3/4 the distance. Outside, these things are just amazing. They look cool, charge up quickly and use a standard mini-usb. You don't have to use both at once, but you will want to because they are 'real' stereo as opposed to two speakers that just repeat the same sound. And they are very, very clear and sweet.

They weigh almost nothing and tuck up into an egg shape. The magnets that hold them together are very strong. I haul these around in my purse all day and they do not come apart. There is no storage compartment for the little charging cord (which also connects the speakers). The cord is about the size of a standard set of ear buds and wraps up nicely around the speakers if you want to do that. Keep it where you keep your ear buds.

There just is nothing else like these. The iHomes are clones of this design, more expensive, and they don't have the bass these do. These are made in Singapore by Xmi Pte Ltd and assembled in China. The x-mini is their original design. I have seen these cloned a lot, but nothing sounds like these.

So for a small amount of money you can get a seriously cool set of speakers to carry around in your bag! I got rid of a logitech blade to get these. These are not quite as loud as the blade but it's OK.

Special bonus - these come with an additional cord you can use to attach other X-minis to! You can make your own x-mini parade of dancing little egg things and put them anywhere. I am not sure if you improve the sound by doing that, but you certainly spread it around more. Plus it looks goofy. You can attach another set of these or up to (I think) 16 of the single x2s. They are the kind of thing you want to collect - they work, are really small, and are rechargeable so I can see this catching on.

The egg shaped ones are getting harder to find. I probably paid less for these than you will here on Amazon. When I shopped for prices I just went with an Amazon prime shipper because it worked out to be less. I did notice other places had sold out or were waiting on replenishment. So if you see them, grab them. If you don't like it you can probably resell these for what you paid for them or possibly a little more if they stay popular. I think they will.

After years of hauling around "portable" speakers for my iPod, this is Travelers Nirvana! I hook up 4 X-mini speakers (which fit into a pair of shoes for packing) and fill my hotel room with music. This is more than technology - it's magic! The only downside is that the blue light indicating power on is so bright that I have to cover it up at night - a swatch of electrician's tape works well.

The X-Mini Max II Capsule Speakers are great. I checked into many types of mini speakers. There were many reviews on these speakers, and I read a lot of them. Then, I saw there was a video, I watched it and coudn't believe the sound of the speakers. I ordered them from Amazon, who gives great service, and free shipping.

5 out of 5 stars Great portable Speaker   March 3, 2010

The wife has an iPhone 3GS and she always wants to play music when she is on the treadmill or in the kitchen. I have an iPod dock on our home theater system (Denon); but, the pin-outs are different from our 1st gen iPod touch compared to the iPhone and it does not work with the home system. The iPhone speakers are just too small to fill a room. The mini-max II looked like a good solution and she is very happy with the portability and sound of the speakers.

Pros:
- Very good sound
- USB rechargeable
- Small size, very portable
- Very cool design

Cons:
- Only A-OK bass
- A little expensive for the size, you can get a Logitech PC system with subwoofer for same $$ or less
- For the $$, the speakers should be Bluetooth
- Don't know how long the rechargeable batteries will last, usually 2 years seems about the average for most products this size (cell phones, ipods, game controllers, etc..)
